Next Episode of A Fine Romance (1989) is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
A funny thing happened on the way to the 1988 fall season. The writers' strike forced postponement of shooting on one of ABC's best new-show hopes, the European-based "A Fine Romance." Result: star Anthony Andrews ("Brideshead Revisited") dropped out and was replaced by Christopher Cazenove (who played Blake's brother Ben on "Dynasty" three seasons back).
The pilot episode — which most critics found charming, fast and funny — was completely rewritten and reshot. Margaret Whitton stayed on as the madcap Louisa Phillips, while Cazenove assumed the role of Louisa's stuffy ex-husband Michael Trent. They play a mismatched couple who co-hosted a European-travel TV show. Their marriage was disastrous, but the series' ratings were excellent.
Filmed on location in Europe, "A Fine Romance" casts Whitton and Cazenove as formerly married co-stars of a TV travel magazine. She's a funny, utterly irresponsible American, while he's a boring, straight-arrow Briton.
