Next Episode of American Crime is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
Following the home invasion murder of Matt Skokie – a war vet – and an assault on his wife Gwen, four suspects are brought into custody: Tony Gutiérrez, an impressionable teen who got in way over his head even under the watchful eye of his dedicated and hard-working father, Alonzo Gutiérrez. Hector Tontz, a young man who has lived life on the fringes of society and has made bad decisions just to survive. Carter Nix and Aubry Taylor, two incredibly lost souls whose addiction to drugs and to one another has become destructive and paralyzing.
Though the suspects fit a profile, they and their situations are far more complicated than anyone would have initially believed... As is true for the victims themselves. As Russ Skokie and Barb Hanlon – divorced and estranged – arrive to both bury their son Matt, and seek a measure of justice for his killing, they discover their son may have been far from an innocent bystander in his own murder.
Told from the points of view of all those involved, this new drama examines preconceptions on faith, family, gender, race, class and other aspects of our social experience with an approach and perspectives historically underserved in media. (source: abc.go.com)
An undocumented worker, Luis Salazar, travels from Mexico into the United States in search of a job, only to discover that modern servitude is thriving in the farmlands and agricultural communities.
While Luis finds himself sinking further into servitude on the farm, Isaac tries to protect Coy from abusive conditions in the fields. Meanwhile, Jeanette begins to wonder if her family is down-playing a trailer fire, which killed a number of their undocumented workers. Kimara tries to transition Shae from being an underage victimized prostitute to sustaining herself as she tries to convince Shae to testify against her former pimp.
Luis gets to the Hesby Farm and learns important information about his missing son, while Coy's outlook on life is forever changed when he witnesses a terrible accident. Elsewhere, Shae reconsiders her decision to stay in a shelter; Kimara hears difficult personal news; and Jeanette and JD decide to attend a rally for workers.
Luis learns his son's fate as Coy devises a plan to get himself off the farm. Meanwhile, Jeanette pleads her case to Laurie Ann about the working conditions in the field; and business owner Nicholas Coates struggles to make a profit in a difficult market as his wife decides to hire a Haitian woman to be their son's nanny.
Shae mulls another abortion as Dustin introduces her to online sex work. Meanwhile, Jeanette makes a life-altering decision; Kimara finds a new troubled girl to help; Nicholas and Clair's world continues to crumble; and Gabriella has a scary incident that makes her realize how dangerous her new life is.
Nicholas is distraught with the reality of his failing business and takes his frustration out on Clair, who becomes increasingly controlling over Gabrielle. Elsewhere, Jeanette looks for a job while continuing to live with her sister Raelyn; Kimara faces a moral dilemma; and Shae feels she's being shortchanged for her work in the Webcam house, which leads to a tragic confrontation.
Dustin's life is in danger following a fatal altercation at the Webcam house, so he reaches out for help from Kimara, who is struggling with a difficult moral dilemma and decides to take time off from work at the shelter. Meanwhile, Nicholas and Clair's marriage continues to unravel, prompting Gabrielle to act impulsively out of self-preservation; and Jeanette is alarmed by Raelyn's overreaction to a random drug test request.
Kimara counsels Dustin to tell the police about the crime that occurred in the Webcam house. Meanwhile, Clair and Nicholas profess their innocence to detectives and claim Gabrielle is the one to blame; and Jeanette is forced to consider the cost and sacrifice of social change.
