Originally titled the Blockbuster Bowl, the game was born in Miami, Florida, in 1990 and thrived in its first year with a marquee matchup between Penn State and Florida State which drew more than 74,000 fans. After moving to Orlando in 2001, the game has continued to be successful, with several different title sponsors throughout the years. In 2020 Cheez-It signed a multi-year agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to be the new title sponsor of the game. In 2023 Pop-Tarts signed a multi-year agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to be the new title sponsor of the game.Note: Not to be confused with the Citrus Bowl, which is also sponsored by Cheez-It starting in 2022.

S2022E1 - 2022 Cheez-It Bowl: Florida State vs. Oklahoma

The No. 13 Seminoles (9-3) play the Sooners (6-6) for the Cheez-It Bowl. Oklahoma has won the past six meetings, with four of those featuring both schools ranked in the national top five. Florida State competes in its first bowl game since 2019.
