Next Episode of Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
"The immortal pen of James Fenimore Cooper brings you thrilling tales of excitement, blazing action on the early American frontier, stirring adventures filled with the daring and courage of Hawkeye, the first of the long rifles, and his blood brother Chingachgook, last of the Mohicans!"
Loosely based on the works of early American novelist James Fenimore Cooper, this adventure series set on the New York frontier during the French and Indian Wars (1754-1763) featured Cooper's fictional characters Natty "Hawkeye" Bumpo (here called Nat Cutler) and his Mohican friend Chingachgook. The doughty heroes track malefactors, mediate frontier squabbles, and right grievous wrongs at the behest of colonial authorities and settlers. Hawkeye and Gingachgook belong to the homosocial, misogynistic world of adventure and are frontier versions of the crime-fighting comic book duos that appeal to boys and adolescents.
Except for the filmed-in-Hollywood pilot ("Hawkeye's Homecoming" 01x01), the series was shot in Canada utilizing extensive outdoor locations with Canadian actors in secondary roles. Authentic period detail in firearms and dress was a hallmark of the series. John Hart starred as Hawkeye with Lon Chaney, Jr. co-starring as Chingachgook. The show generated merchandise for the juvenile market including comic books. Selected episodes are currently available on DVD.
