Next Episode of Love Rat is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
Love Rat follows recently divorced Emma as she enjoys a whirlwind holiday romance with charming hotel proprietor, Niko, on the paradise island of Cyprus. When she realises that Niko and his partner-in-crime George have scammed her out of her life savings, she embarks on a dangerous mission to get her money back aided by ex-husband Pete.
In the opening episode, Emma is still regrouping after her divorce from Pete, and decides that the best way to help the healing process is to go on holiday to Cyprus, where she and Pete enjoyed holidays together in the past. Shrugging off her daughter Susie's criticism of her plan, she packs her bags and heads for the sun, checking in to a beautiful beachfront hotel and hoping to recover some of her joie de vivre.
She soon crosses paths with handsome, charming Niko, the owner of the hotel. She is touched by Niko's efforts to make sure that she is being looked after properly, and then pleasantly surprised when he asks her if she'd like to go out on his boat with him. Emma agrees and a passionate romance quickly develops between them.
All too soon it is time for Emma to return home to the UK, but Niko then makes a proposal: that she stay in Cyprus with him and move into the villa that he is buying. Emma feels she has nothing to lose and, to Pete and Susie's disgust, agrees, also offering to loan Niko the money (around £200K) that he needs to secure the purchase of the villa.
But all is not what it seems with Niko. To Emma's horror, he suddenly vanishes - along with her money. Emma's initial hope that it is all a misunderstanding soon gives way to panic as she fails to track both him and her money down..
Emma's waking nightmare continues as she is visited in her police cell by a concerned Susie. She and Susie then speak to a world-weary but not unsympathetic police detective, Christina, who in the face of a lack of evidence urges Emma to head home to the UK. Susie concurs. Emma, though, is adamant that she isn't going to let Niko get away with this.
As Susie departs, Emma begins her mission to find Niko and her money. She starts by targeting hotel worker Maria, who is the only person she knows who has definitely had contact with Niko. She follows Maria to her apartment and after a confrontation comes away with a crucial lead on one of Niko's business associates: George.
Tracking George to his house, Emma breaks in and finds evidence that there may be another victim of Niko's scam - one Annika Larsen - but is disturbed in the act by the urbane and seemingly sympathetic George, who warns her against any further investigation.
George takes Emma to the airport, assuming she is leaving Cyprus, but Emma, ignoring a concerned Pete's proposal that she should just come home, evades George's clutches. She contacts Annika's daughter, Freya, discovering that Annika has been missing for some time, but then receives what appears to be a message from her, asking her to meet…
A terrified Emma is led at gunpoint by Niko to his remote farmhouse. But now Emma's bewilderment is further compounded when Niko claims to be trying to protect her from George. Niko then lays out for Emma the true nature of the sordid arrangement he has with George.
Emma presses Niko to go to the police, but Niko is reluctant. Emma, disgusted, leaves him, and returns to her hotel, where she finds a concerned and supportive Pete waiting for her. Emma breaks down and agrees with Pete that it's time to return home to the UK. But then Niko reappears, telling Emma that he has reflected on her words, convincing her to work with him to bring George down.
Pete has other ideas. But Emma is adamant - they must try one last time to get justice for Annika. While Niko heads to George's house to try to retrieve further evidence of George's criminal network, Emma convinces Christina to give her one last chance. But her attempt to catch George in the act of scamming another woman results in abject failure.
A furious Emma heads out to Niko's farmhouse to confront him. Niko claims he did not tip George off - on the contrary, he now has all the evidence need to get George put away for a very long time. But as he and Emma rejoice, George suddenly appears…
With Christina and the police hot on their heels, Emma and Pete make a frantic dash to the airport. Emma is adamant that her and Pete's best course of action is to try and make it to the UK. But with the police closing in, Emma makes the decision to hand herself in.
The story is far from over, however, as events in Cyprus and the UK yield further shocking truths about what's been going on and why Emma has been targeted...
