Love Hina

15 years ago, a young boy, Urashima Keitaro, made a promise with a girl that they will enter Toudai (Tokyo University) and find happiness together. 15 years after, he has failed his second retake of the Toudai entrance exams.

One morning he receives a call from his grandmother, Urashima Hina, to go to Hinata Lodge, the same place Keitaro had made the promise with the girl 15 years back. Upon arriving, to his surprise (or shock) Hinata Lodge is no longer an inn, but is now a all-girls dormitory. To make matters worse, he was made the manager of the dormitory against the disapproval's of all the tenants.

Love Hina is an anime based on the popular manga of the same name created by mangaka Ken Akamatsu.

There were 25 episodes produced for the animated television series. The story is fairly consistent from episode 1 to 24, where it rises to a climax. Episode 25 begins anew the second half of the story. However this episode is the final episode of the television series. Most viewers feel confused about the newly-began-and-left-unfinished story arc, and also confused about why there was no true resolution to the earlier portion of the series.

While the 25th episode may seem an unexpected and unnatural adjunct to the plot, it is because it was meant to be the first episode of another series of 24, which would have generally rounded out the story of the series. The reason that no more episodes beyond 25 were produced is because the production company unexpectedly ran out of budget to continue it.

Two Love Hina specials have been made. The first one, Chrismas Special - Silent Eve, hit the Japanese market in 2000. The second one, called Spring Special - I wish Your Dream, was released next year in 2001.

For the finalle, a sequel was made containing 3 episodes, called Love Hina Again.
