A powerful dramatic series about the life-and-death crisis and the intense personal conflicts faced by the doctors, students and patients of a large university medical complex.
The hour-long series stars Chad Everett as Dr. Joseph Gannon and James Daly as Dr. Paul G. Lochner. Joe Gannon(Chad Everett) is a 32-year-old associate professor of surgery at the university "Medical Center"—young enough to have empathy with many of his students who, on both a personal and professional level are sometimes at odds with the establishment.
Dr. Gannon serves not only as a hard-line instructor in a profession that allows no margin for error but also acts as counselor and emotional sounding board for students making the often painful transition from youth to maturity. Dr. Paul Lochner (James Daly)— medical center chief of staff and the older of the two men—has the responsibility of maintaining the high standards of a skillful physician, an aggressive executive and a successful diplomat. By the second season, Dr Gannon was promoted to Director of the Intern Service, a job suited for a professional able to relate with interns. Around these two medics, there are several doctors and nurses who work alongside and specially Miss Wilcox, the efficient secretary.
