Muffin the Mule was a childrens' programme presented and created by former dancer and singer Annette Mills, the elder sister of Sir John Mills. The "lead character" was a mule puppet named Muffin. It ran almost every weekday from 1946 until 1955, ending just days before Mills' death from a heart attack. It is considered to be a British cultural icon and is regarded with affection those old enough to remember it.
