Property Ladder (US)

The show revolves around a property developer who has to buy a condo in California that is badly in need of repair and/or a design overhaul. They buy the place at a great low price, they then fix it up themselves in anywhere from 6 to 30 weeks and after it is finished they resell the property as soon as possible for a huge profit. This practice is now called “Flipping” and a person that does all the work is said to be called a Professional “Flipper”. In the second episode of the first season on 11 June 2005 a young flipper purchased a home for $250,000. She took approximately 26 weeks to fix, refurbish, redecorate etc. the condo she purchased and when she resold it she made a profit of $68,000 which is well worth all the time and work she spent fixing it up.

Because this process takes so very long from purchase, though repair and then resale, TLC records it many months in advance. They then cut it down so it will fit in a 60-minute time slot for everyone to enjoy. The host of the show is vivacious and a very talented young woman by the name of “Kirsten Kemp”. Kirsten is originally from New Mexico City, Mexico, she moved to Los Angeles at the age of 13 and began to develop her skills in many areas such as interior decorating, real estate development and sales & "flipping". She has previously appeared as a special guest star on many a TV program in the past to include “J.A.G.”, “Mad About You”, “Mike Hammer”, “Married With Children” and “Providence” just to name a few.
