'TALES OF IRISH CASTLES' is a 6 part history documentary series produced by Sideline Productions and supported by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund.
Presented by Simon Delaney, takes viewers on an educational journey around Ireland’s most famous castles.
Ireland has survived an 800 year-long bloody history beginning with Viking invaders, Anglo Norman settlers and later British rulers - but how many know the whole story?
The primetime TV3 series features castles with great personal, military, social or family stories that sustain riveting, visual and strong narratives.
For every castle featured in the series there is personal and national archive plus access to local experts, books and articulate historians who will put the castles into context historically and also offer hugely interesting information on the state of the country, local wars and the families who once lived in them.
The series will take the audience on an educational journey throughout Ireland, where more castles were built than in the rest of the British Isles combined.
It is an innovative, dramatic and multi-faceted TV series with no programme ever the same, driven by a top class production team that want to inform, educate and entertain. (Source: IFTN/TV3)
