When a strange star arrives from space and confers uncanny powers on the Mellop children - Samantha, Michael and Jason - their world is turned upside down asnthese these visitors from outer space complicate their struggles. The children also help their father, Bill, run the family run nursery whilst their aunt Jocelyn acts as their housekeeper following the death of their mother. Also seen is Bernie Dump, the Mellops neighbour who wants to take over the land which houses the nursery.
