This sitcom recounts the life of a stuffy judge. Tony Randall plays "Walter Franklin," a Philadelphia judge and widower who deals wisely with problems from the bench, but is less competent in coping with his children, a sub-teen son and a strong-willed daughter.
"The Tony Randall Show;" a half-hour comedy series starring Emmy Award-winner Tony Randall as Judge Walter Franklin, a contemporary courtroom judge in Philadelphia who has as many trials and vexations off the bench as on,
premiered Thursday, Sept. 23, 1976. A widower, Franklin lives with his two children, Roberta (Bobby), 18, and Oliver Wendell Franklin, 11, along with their housekeeper, Mrs. McClellan. At the courthouse, he is assisted by his court reporter and confidant, Jack Terwilliger and his sharp-tongued, sardonic secretary, Miss Reubner. Co-starring are Barney Martin as Jack Terwilliger, Allyn Ann McLerie as Miss Reubner, Devon Scott as Roberta Franklin; and Rachel Roberts as Mrs. McClellan.
The series, an MTM Production, was filmed before a studio audience in Hollywood.
