Eliza Thornberrry's family is known for travelling around the world making animal documentaries for her father's show, Nigel's Animal World. Eliza's family is a bit abnormal. Her father is a knight, who's mother is a stuck-up Brit, and her mother is a All-American tomboy, who is now camerawomen for Nigel's show. Her sister, Debbie hates travelling, and just wants to be normal. Her "brother" Donnie was found on the Thornberrys trip to Borneo, and they adopted him, but he doesn't seem to speak English. Than there's Darwin. He's your typical Chimpanzee, only he hates banana's, and wears Debbie's tang-top, and shorts. Finally, there's the most abnormal member of Eliza's family- herself. Eliza was given a gift...the gift of gab. Soon after she met Darwin, she wondered what it be like if she could talk to him. When Eliza was walking through the jungle one evening, she saved a warthog, who was trapped in a hunting-trap. It turned out that it was really a shaman, and he granted her one wish. Eliza wished she could talk to animals, and her wish came true. When she went back to her motor home, she couldn't talk to her parents. Eliza was upset, but couldn't find the shaman. Once Eliza finally found him, he gave her the gift of gab- the power to talk to all creatures. The Thornberrys are nothing ordinary, and you'll find out why. Eliza uses her powers to help animals, and she and her best friend Darwin usually ends up in a sticky situation. In 2002, The Wild Thornberrys got its own movie titled, The Wild Thornberrys Movie. In 2003, Klasky-Csupo put it on hiatus, and new episodes might air later, because they want to appeal to a new audience, similar to what they did to Rugrats.
