The Wipers Times is a factual drama, based on a true story and is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit whilst having to deal with overwhelming adversity. In Ypres in 1916, Captain Fred Roberts and Lieutenant Jack Pearson find an old printing press and see it as a great opportunity to try and take the men’s minds off “the attentions of Messrs Hun and Co” by making a satirical newspaper to raise the spirits of the soldiers.
