1Xtra veteran, DJ Ace takes us through the journey of the UK's first national Black music radio station - featuring previously unseen archive and exclusive interviews with DJ talent, past and present as well as successful artists such as Emeli Sande, Chip, Wretch 32 & Potter Payper - all of whom got their breaks on the station.
From the stations humble beginnings and the explosion of Black British music, to difficult conversations within the Black community and the station serving as a conveyor belt for talent. This is a look at how 1Xtra has embedded Black British music within wider British culture, permanently changing not just the UK music industry and the aspirations of young Black artists and creatives, but British society in general.
From the streets of South Africa to dancefloors around the world, a look at one of the fastest-growing new music genres, amapiano. The documentary features the most important DJs, artists and producers in amapiano, such as Major League DJz, Felo Le Tee, DBN Gogo, Daliwonga and many more. Guest appearances include Davido, and 1Xtra's DJ Edu and Jermiah Asiamah.
Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright talk to Ace about honouring their friend, the late Chadwick Boseman and "the legacy he created", extreme performance training, keeping Marvel secrets, empowering women to the food on set for the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' film.
