Return of the documentary following the Radford family, beginning as Noel and Sue's pregnant 27-year-old daughter Chloe faces a medical emergency. Plus, Sue celebrates her 47th birthday decides it's time to improve her fitness, and signs herself up for an open-water swim in the Lake District.
Sue Radford sets her sights on buying a motorhome, but Noel isn't on board and it is a decision that threatens to divide the family. The Radfords' seventh eldest child Millie decides to move out, but can't bring herself to break the news to her loved ones.
Finding your perfect family home is never easy, but when you're Britain's biggest family, the quest becomes almost impossible. In this episode, the Radford's begin the hunt for a new place to live…and some pet Alpacas! After eighteen years living in their ten-bedroom house in Morecambe, the constant fight for space and the relentless upkeep have finally got the better of Noel and Sue. They decide to act and begin the pursuit of their dream home in the countryside. As Noel and Sue battle whether they should build a property, or buy a fixer upper, their grand designs could be scuppered at the first hurdle when the estate agent comes over to value their house. And the family pie business is nominated for a prestigious award, but a feud between Chloe and Luke threatens to ruin their chances of making it to the ceremony. When awards day finally comes, will Sue make it through the night in heels without injury, and crucially will the Radford's win the big prize?
The Radford family go stateside with their biggest trip to date. It's the summer holidays, and with sixteen of their twenty-two kids still living at home, keeping them occupied for six weeks is a mammoth challenge. The reality of failing to find their dream home in the countryside is setting in for Sue, as their current home is bursting at the seams. Sue knows it's going to be a long summer, so she hatches a dramatic plan… a move to Florida! Noel and Sue agree to travel to "The Sunshine State" to look at some properties, but soon enough news of the impending trip sends the Radford rumour mill into overdrive, as all the kids want to tag along, resulting in the biggest ever Radford family trip abroad! Thanks to the world's most patient estate agent, Noel and Sue see some properties that would fit their massive brood, but will the excessive heat, pricey supermarkets and homesickness for Morecambe all prove too much and force the Radford's to abandon their Florida dream?
When teenager Josh starts to go off the rails, Noel and Sue decide to take the family on an adventure trip to the Ardeche Gorge in France to help get him back on track.
With the energy crisis hitting the Radford household, 13-year-old Max puts his maths skills to good use and comes up with some extreme money-saving tips. Meanwhile, Chloe is on maternity leave from the bakery and she and partner Jake are feeling the financial pinch, so he decides to try his hand at modelling.
It is Noel and Sue Radford's 30th wedding anniversary and they expect to celebrate it with a romantic meal, but their children have other ideas and are hatching a plan to send them on a dream trip abroad. But it is put in jeopardy when the Radfords' youngest refuses to be weaned off breast milk, and Noel is overcome with worry about leaving the bakery in the sole hands of Luke.
Sue has had enough when Noel misses the start of another family holiday, so he is forced to think about his priorities and decides to step back from his role at the bakery.. But will more time at home lead to a harmonious household? When it comes to who will take on the extra responsibilities in Noel's absence, Chloe and Luke go head-to-head in the battle for control.
Noel and Sue mark thirty happy years of marriage with a very special – and eventful - road trip down memory lane. Spanning three decades, Sue and Noel visit the people and places that have shaped and affected them the most. Sue is surprised by her bridesmaids at the church they got married in, and is reminded of the fact that nobody thought the marriage would last. Little did they know! And Noel is made to relive his hilarious drunken antics at the reception. They also revisit the site of their first business, which nearly ended their marriage and left them bankrupt. But 30 years later and with 22 children, Noel and Sue wouldn't change a thing.
In this final episode of 22 Kids & Counting, Noel and Sue address the question of why they have such a big family, confronting whether the answer lies in the fact that they were both adopted at birth. Noel decides it's the right time to discover more about his birth parents, leading to emotional discoveries with potentially life-changing consequences.
