unknown.
Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But Pippa Fitz-Amobi - our insatiably smart, slightly square heroine - isn't so sure and she's determined to prove it. But if Sal Singh isn't a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pippa from the truth?
It's the summer holidays, but teenager Pip is focused on her school research project investigating the case of 17-year-old Andie Bell, whose disappearance in 2019 has haunted the town of Little Kilton. Andie's boyfriend Sal Singh sent a text confessing to the murder before being found dead, seemingly taking his own life. Andie's body was never found. With her own secret connection to what happened five years ago, Pip is determined to prove Sal's innocence.
Now a team, Pip and Ravi turn their attention to Andie's best friends and find out Andie had a secret life that Sal was unhappy about. Meanwhile, Pip receives an anonymous warning.
Pip decides she must track down the drug dealer Max told her about, so against her better judgement, she seeks out a calamity party - an infamous secret teen party, full of drugs and sex. With the help of Cara and Lauren, Pip works out the next calamity party is the following weekend in the woods. Ravi is sceptical about Pip's plan, but she's determined to see it through and attend the party with Cara and Lauren.
Pip and Ravi find out more about Andie's secret life, and when Pip is presented with a new piece of evidence, she reaches a crisis point and questions whether Sal is guilty.
Pip discovers more than she bargained for and faces dark consequences when she tries to confront the killer. Just when it seems all is lost, the terrible truth is revealed.
Pip must come to terms with the repercussions of solving the case. But something isn't quite right, and Pip puts herself in danger once more to find out the whole truth.
