From preparing land for planting, welcoming new arrivals, to milking and mucking out, Farmers' time is precious, and they can't be in a million places at once. But machines can help sort that, and the Nicholson family are all for saving time, especially when the spring lambing season is on the horizon. So, Rob and Dave bring in sheep scanner man Robert Garth so they know how many lambs to expect at springtime.

Jules Hudson visits a soft fruit farm in Kent and discovers how robots are transforming the rural labour market by helping spot fungal infections that are threatening strawberry crops.

JB Gill visits a vegetarian and vegan sausage maker in Bedale, North Yorkshire to see the state-of-the-art technology that creates the perfect environment to grow the different types of herbs required for the different flavours of sausage. JB then heads to the Southeast of England to meet a producer who owns the largest greenhouse complex in the UK and cutting-edge tech to grow 750,000 red peppers every year.

In Lincolnshire, farmer Ian Watson shows off his high-tech kit that allows him to optimise the pea harvest and his powerful new machine that has revolutionised working methods.

Whizz-kid mechanic Reuben Owen goes old school when he is asked to refurbish a 50-year-old piece of farming machinery at Cannon Hall Farm.

In North Lincolnshire, Farm Manager Peter Harriman trials the world's largest combine harvester which can collect more than 100 tonnes of grain per hour.

Back at the Nicholson's farm, Rob and Dave call in Yorkshire Vet David and his specialised dentistry kit when John Bon the pony starts to look down in the mouth.

Jules Hudson heads to a farm in Bridlington on the east coast with his horse Barney to meet Peter Milner, who has transformed his grandfather's mixed dairy and arable farm into a recreational retreat.

At Cannon Hall Farm, Rob and Dave, always on the lookout for new ways to attract visitors, have a growing collection of exotic animals to care for. When a baby alpaca needs help, they need to call in Yorkshire Vets Matt and Dave.

First generation farmer JB Gill is also looking for new challenges and introduces a bee colony to his farm in Kent. JB calls in six-year-old son Ace to help out when it's time to collect honey.

Rob and Dave have an early morning start at Cannon Hall Farm as they prepare to head to an auction in Carlisle with £1000 in their back pocket to pick up a ram from a breed of sheep that would be new to the farm.

Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright visits a farm in the Lake District to discover milking cows aren't just about producing food and drink. Maria Benjamin shows Peter how milk from her Jersey cows is helping her produce soap that is turning into a best seller.

Cumbrian farmer Stephen Morris reveals how a diversification into ice cream production and butter-making has helped keep the family farm going.

At Cannon Hall Farm, it's an early start for farmers Rob and Dave Nicholson as they cope with a variety of troublesome births during the small hours of their frenetic lambing seasons. Confused mums and stray triplet lambs push them to the limit.

JB Gill heads to a Cotswold farm to meet farming chef Louise Duck who grows her own red hot chilli peppers. Things get intense when JB tries her spicy hot sauces.

Yorkshire vet Julian Norton is called into action in Harrogate, North Yorkshire when a pygmy goat breeder is overwhelmed by the arrival of 30 boisterous newborns. Can Julian save the day when one youngster strains its knee?

Rob and Dave are called to an unexpected emergency when an adult deer is injured in a road traffic accident. The brothers do what they can until vet Matt arrives to help the stricken animal.

In Staffordshire, Sam Bailey, the 24-year-old Young Farmer of the Year, is doing his best to tend to the 600 sheep and 150 dairy cows on his farm but when he realises mum-to-be cow Mary is expecting twins, things get tricky.

The threat of a contagious disease threatens the health of Rob and Dave's free-range hens. Then they need to call in Yorkshire Vet Matt Jackson-Smith when one of their beloved Swiss Valley rams has trouble with his spirally out-of-control horns.

And West Country farmer Roger Longman gets overwhelmed when an outbreak of an infectious disease threatens the lives of hundreds of newborn kid goats.

At Cannon Hall Farm, Rob and Dave Nicholson need to complete pregnancy tests on their Alpacas. They use their experience and knowledge rather than technology by placing potentially pregnant females with Zander the male.

JB Gill heads to Lincolnshire to visit dairy farmers Michael and Mary Davenport who are thinking out of the box to improve their yield. They've learnt that a happy cow produces more milk, so they have designed a range of pampering treatments that's beginning to pay dividends.

Jules Hudson visits Laura Brady's farm in Kent and discovers how she uses alternative methods to grow weird and wonderful vegetables from around the world.

Yorkshire Vet Julian Norton heads to a farm in West Yorkshire to meet Danny Camp who deploys an Italian breed Sheepdog to protect his animals from predators.

Yorkshire Vet Matt Smith visits Jake Ratcliffe at his rescue farm in West Yorkshire and helps them with previously abandoned animals they now lovingly care for.

Fellow Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright heads to North Yorkshire to visit Simon and Ellen Ringberg who specialise in making ice cream that's safe for dogs to enjoy.

We meet Lynn Arrowsmith at her farm in York who has a growing collection of rare breed animals that she is helping to save from extinction.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen travels to the Snowdonia National Park to brave the icy waters of Snowdon with wild swimming expert Vivienne Rickman.

And Rob Nicholson is putting his brother Dave to the test when he comes up against the current holder of the Britain's Fittest Female Farmer title!
