Alaska’s version of Spring Break sans swimsuits the 25th Annual Arctic Man Festival. The 4-day festival hosts more than 4,000 partygoers. The Arctic Man Festival is winter's last and craziest party of the year, which is considered Alaska's version of spring break in Daytona Beach. They hold races where Snowmobiles sometimes called skidoo’s pull really crazy people on skis that love to go really fast. They start at the top of a 1,700-foot vertical double black diamond mountain. Send a skier plunging down it as fast as possible, hook them up at the bottom with a tricked-out snowmobile then race up the side of another 1,500-foot mountain at nearly 80 mph before the skier then plummets down the mountain to the eventual finish line. The race course itself totals 5 total miles in length however the races aren’t the only thing that draws more than 15,000 visitors every year. They also celebrate the return of the Sun after a 6 month absence.
