Underwater Cinematographer and explorer Dean Cropp is joined by a crew of young adventurers to follow in his father's footsteps on an expedition into the most remote, pristine, and beautiful parts of Australias Coral Sea.
Dean and the crew head to Middleton Reef. On the journey, they are becalmed and take a mesmerising ocean swim in water that is 4.5km deep. Meanwhile, Tyler has to perform a dangerous operation to fix the broken propeller.
A tiger shark bites the back of the boat and continues hanging around; the crew have to summon up the courage to get back in the water; to distract them, Dean takes the crew to explore the shipwreck Annasona.
Bad weather forces Dean and the crew back towards the Australian mainland. Dean takes his camera into the middle of a bait ball with dolphins and seals feasting on the tight school of fish.
The crew dive with endangered and protected grey nurse sharks, which Dean's dad Ben hunted back in the 1960s. After a couple of crew changes, the expedition moves to Cato Reef.
Without safe anchor, Dean voyages on to Saumarez Reef and as the expedition heads north, closer relationships start to form between crew members; at Kenn Reef, Dean sets the crew a free dive challenge to get to 18 metres and beyond.
Next stop is Marion Reef which is famous for sea snakes, and Lauren, who has a snake phobia, is not looking forward to it.
Dean takes the crew towards Carola Kay. Dean's father Ben, gave him his first cinematographers job at this special location. On the way there, Dean and the crew are joined by a pod of Minke Whales who stay with the boat all day.
Wanting to make new discoveries, Dean takes the crew to a reef his father has never visited, Lihou Reef. Lihou Island is actually home to one of the most remote guest books in the world.
Food is running out and it is time to head back to Cairns on the Australian coast. The voyage back leads to encounters with Humpback Whales and glowing dolphins at night.
Anika survives her shark bite, but the tourism authorities doubt her story and she is trolled on social media. Her lengthy mental and physical rehabilitation climax's by being taken back to Middleton Reef, famous for sharks, to face her fears.
