Next Episode of Born Free is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
Based of the novel and movie of the same name.
The "Born Free" series premiered Monday, September 9,1974, at 7 p m on the NBC Television Network. It was filmed entirely on location in East Africa, one of nature's last frontiers. It is the great equatorial expanse, double the size of Texas, where adventures and tourists, spies and smugglers poachers and missionaries, guerilla fighters and savage beasts, the old and the new, the peaceful and violent, co-exist and provide a wealth of story material.
The show was a dramatic adventure series for the entire family and its stories were filled with humor and sentiment, warmth and love, and, above all, drama.
Each hour-long program in the "Born Free" series is based on the romantic and thrilling adventures of George and Joy Adamson, with the lioness Elsa, and other creatures of the African landscape.
The Adamson books. "Born Free," "Living Free" and "Forever Free," sold over 20 million copies in 15 years.
Gary Collins and Diana Muldaur star as the Adamsons. The dramatic stakes of each show were the life or death of some person or animal the audience cares about. Elsa's violent struggles with a rival lioness, a love story about Masai tribesmen challenging ancient taboos, and a dramatic confrontation between Adamson and a white hunter whose life style is in opposition to the emerging needs of modern Africa provided material for some of the episodes.
