Buying the View explores luxury listings in Miami, Manhattan, Toronto, Niagara, Muskoka, Vancouver and Whistler with views that will take your breath away. Realtors from the hottest real estate markets in North American are searching for luxury homes for their clients – touring three very different properties, the buyers see exactly what their budget gets them. And when it comes down to it, what are they prepared to compromise on, and what will they ultimately decide to go for? Their journey gives an insight into the lives, tastes and personalities of those buying luxury properties with million dollar views.
Stephen and Ivan are finally moving to their dream location – Whistler. And they need a house that fulfills everything on their wish list: views of lake and glaciers, a gourmet kitchen, something modern but with a rustic feel. It's a tall order, but their realtor, Catherine, nails it, showing them three properties that will knock their socks off! With views of glacier lakes, Blackcomb mountains and walking distance to Whistler Village, all the guys have to do is decide which property is going to be their forever home.
Lovebirds Asi and Kayla are looking for their first home - with a budget of $1.5-4 million. It has to be Miami, it has to be beachfront and it has to have ocean views. Lucky for them, their realtor is Marc Sirkin, an expert in getting his clients exactly what they want. Their property journey takes them to Miami Beach, Sunny Isles and South Beach, where they tour three outstanding luxury pads. All they have to do now is decide which one is for them.

Their budget is around the $10 million mark, and realtor Jay Egan is confident he can find them something that fulfills their wish list. They are looking for a view to kill, space to party, and an open concept. The three properties they tour include a private infinity pool, a free Rolls Royce and 360 degree view of the city. Jim and Kim are looking to downsize in Toronto – from 20,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet, with nature views. The only problem is they can't decide if they want a condo or a house. Jay Egan is the realtor for the job but even with a budget of $10 million, finding a property with parking for 10 cars is a tall order. They explore some of Toronto's most affluent neighbourhoods as they search for a million dollar view to match their perfect new home.
Steph and Ryan are looking for an oasis in the city. They want to be near a park, with enough space for games night, with river and city views, AND a gourmet kitchen. Working with their matchmaker and realtor, Caroline Bass, the couple tours Manhattan's west side to find their dream home. Caroline knocks it out of the park, showing the couple condos with rooftop terraces, views of the Hudson, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building and sprawling cityscapes. With their budget of $1.5 million, they tour an estate on a vineyard, a villa with a private pool and a lake view mansion. Their budget of $1.3 million gets them everything on their wishlist and more - and Stephanie and Vince have a hard time deciding which property will best suit their family.

Richard‘s wish list for his dream property is very short. It has to be on a certain street on the West Side of Manhattan, and it has to have a view of the Hudson river. With a budget of $2-4 million, Richard is testing the skill of top realtor Kash Guha. But Kash delivers three properties that nail the view AND the location, and all Richard has to do is make the decision to buy one of them.
Tricia and Michael are looking to leave the hustle of the city for a slower pace in Whistler B.C. These outdoor enthusiasts want a perfect mountain view close to trails, with a large yard for their dog, Allen, to play. Catherine Taylor McKay is an expert realtor in the area and shows them three beautiful properties in Whistler Cay, Nicklaus North and Spruce Grove. Mountain views in Whistler come at a price, so Tricia and Micheal learn they may need to compromise their budget for the privacy and yard they desire.
Sara loves Miami but her entire family lives far away in Pennsylvania. With a budget of $4.8million Sara wants a place with enough space for the whole family. Michael Davalos is Sara's realtor and friend, he is on a mission to find her that perfect home. Together they visit three properties near her favourite neighbourhood OF Brickell bay. The search turns up a unit with two elevators, a condo with a boat slip and an apartment complete with a sexy glass shower.

With a healthy budget of $1.5million, realtor Greg McInnis, is confident he can get them the relaxing get-away they are looking for, with forever home potential. This is lakefront living at it's most secluded: one property is on 16 acres of private woodland; another offers a deck situated on the lake; the third home has a screened in porch and lakeside gazebo. Now all Kara-Lee and Anothny need to do is pick one.
Realtor Chantal Vignola has the challenge of finding her future in-laws a new Vancouver condo to call home. With a generous budget of $5-7 million, Lisa and Blair's wish list items include: a penthouse suite with spectacular city and water views; outdoor space for entertaining; and a boat slip. But a large terrace for Lisa's garden is what will make or break the deal. Saodat and Azmairnin are on the hunt for a West Vancouver property. Azmairnin designed their current home in his bachelor days but now they are quickly running out of space - with three adults and four kids living under one roof. Friend and realtor, Aimee Middleton, shows them three family friendly homes, but even with a budget of $7-8 million finding everything on their wish list is going to be a challenge. Along the way, Aimee finds few surprises for the couple including: an indoor/out door swimming pool, a private elevator and a large home theater. The search is on to upgrade this family's home to incorporate all their needs.
In Toronto, Paul and Katie are on the hunt for their first home together. Paul desperately wants a terrace with enough sun to grow a tomato garden and Katie needs a view where she can kick back and watch the sunset. Erica Smith is just the realtor for the job, but even with their budget of $1.4 million, finding the perfect sunny property in Toronto's crowded skyline is a tall order. The couple tour three homes: an iconic loft space close to the lake; a condo with a large terrace along the harbour front; and a waterside townhouse outside the downtown core. Now Paul and Katie need to decide which home will give them the sunniest view.
Malinka Max knows what she wants, and she wants it all. With a budget of $3-5 Million this luxury event planner is looking for a 3000 sq ft condo with spectacular water view and a large terrace in Miami. But most importantly, she needs a room for her shoe collection. Realtor Marc Sirkin has his work cut our for him, as Malinka won't settle for second best and he needs to bring the ultimate WOW factor in order to impress his client. Along with her friend, Alena, Malinka tours three incredible condos with views of South beach, downtown Miami and cruise ship alley, all she has to do is decide which property is Malinka approved.
Barry is recently divorced and looking for a new beginning in Niagara-on-the-Lake. With a budget of $2.5 Million he is looking for a home big enough for himself and his two daughters, Katia and Alexia. As an entrepreneur, Barry often has international clients come to visit, so entertainment space and guest rooms are a must. Its up to realtor, Jennifer D'Amico to help Barry find his dream home so he can start his new life. The three properties they tour all have magnificent outdoor space, complete with the resort-style living Barry is looking for. Each property also comes with a bonus, one is situated on the shore of Lake Ontario, another features a black lined pool and the third has its own helicopter pad. The pressure is on for Barry to pick only one.
Nick and Jenn are looking for a summer home in Muskoka. Top on their wish list is a private, rustic getaway with a water view. Realtor, Andrew Ramsay knows the area well but being Jenn's brother adds extra pressure to find his sister and brother in-law the charming Muskoka cottage of their dreams. This is lakefront living at its most appealing: one property is a traditional cottage but with modern amenities; another has boat access to a secluded island and the third is located in a private woodland enclave. Now all Jenn and Nick need to do is choose one.
The Cecelia family have been living bettwen Brazil and Miami, and have decided to move to Florida permanently. Realtor, Laura Vale, is up to the challenge of finding three unique properties that include a pool for the kids. But Ana's husband and son are back in Brazil so its left to her and her daughter, Ana Maria, to find the perfect home for the whole family. The three properties they tour include: a home that backs onto a private golf course, exactly what Ana's husband is looking for; a bungalow with 85 feet of waterfront and a private boat slip; and a large turn key mansion located in one of the most sought after gated communities.
