Captain Barbell

Filipino actor “Richard Gutierrez” plays the dual role of Teng and the superhero called “Captain Barbell”. The story of “Captain Barbell” began in the Philippines in 1965 with the first incarnation in the Movie of the same name. He has been resurrected several times over the years on the big screen and on TV both. This the newest version began airing on 29 May 2006 in the Philippines on the GMA network. The Captain is a Filipino from the near future who travels back in his Time machine. He was born Arell to Mr. & Mrs. Barbell but when he travels back in time he is found and adopted by an elderly couple who name him Teng/Enteng Magtanggol. The Captain’s powers include the ability to fly, super-strength and extra-sensory perception. This Filipino superhero is a cross between “Superman” and “Captain Marvel”.
