Anne is in her 50s and the kind of woman who doesn't care for chit-chat, formalities or feigning friendliness. During her years as a spy for East Germany, she always got right to the point; her resoluteness and quick decision-making were major assets in her life and career. Now, Anne and her business partner Youssef prefer to investigate on their own, as private detectives who are using every trick in the book. They make for an odd couple as they go on to solve case after case - bending the rules and making powerful enemies in the process - and sometimes, it gets very personal.
The wife of the Düsseldorf police council Rainer Bachmann ( Peter Trabner ) is kidnapped. When trying to save his mother Monika ( Dagmar Operskalski ), the adult son is killed by a shot. His widow Nicola ( Picco von Groote ) desperately seeks support from the detective agency „ Fuchs & Kilali ". She does not trust the police investigation because she knows that her father-in-law has made many police officers an enemy through his leadership style. Anne ( Lina Wendel ) and Youssef ( Karim Chérif ) suspect a revenge and start working around Rainer Bachmann.
Meanwhile, Anne's son Florian ( Florian Bartholomäi ) manages to escape from the Düsseldorf JVA together with his cellmate. No wonder Anne is now being monitored – the police expect Florian to show up with her. Permanent shading does not make the detectives' work easier. On top of that, they realize that the two cases are related – worse, Florian's life is a danger!
Youssef's niece Saida ( Sara Fazilat ) finds her boyfriend, the young doctor Hagen Hoffmann ( Baris Ar ), killed in the apartment together. The police assume an act in the drug environment due to the victim's computer activities. But Saida is certain: Hagen definitely had nothing to do with drugs. She instructs Anne ( Lina Wendel ) and Youssef ( Karim Chérif ) to find the murderer. During their investigation, the two detectives came across indications that Hagen had another girlfriend besides Saida. On top of that there was violent dispute in the aid organization in which Hagen last worked. Because Hagen had apparently found out that his colleague Jonas ( Ronny Miersch ) had a pharmaceutical company bribe him.
It quickly becomes clear: This case is larger than initially assumed – and the perpetrator is already on their heels. And then there is Anne's son Florian ( Florian Bartholmäi ), who has been in mortal danger since he escaped from the JVA. A race against time begins.
The body of the executive Thomas Loose is recovered dead from the Rhine. He was apparently very drunk and, according to witnesses, balanced on a quay wall from where he fell to his death. Corina Loose ( Liza Tschirner ) does not believe in the police accident thesis – her husband never drank more than two or three beers. A new order for the Fuchs & Kilali detective agency! While Anne ( Lina Wendel ) and Youssef ( Karim Chérif ) are researching the business lunch on the eve of Loose's death, Simone Papst ( Jasmin Schwiers ), Youssef's wife, is also faced with a new task: Her sick father Reinhard ( Günter Barton ) asks her to take on a short-term job in his real estate company.
When Anne and Youssef find out that Thomas Loose was employed by Simone's father as a buyer in the company empire, they use Simone's new sphere of activity: Anne is her personal assistant at Thomas Loose's workplace. Loose had only been with the Pope company for a few months and was pursuing a tough austerity course. Did he make enemies with it? Anne and Youssef discover in their investigations a well-kept secret in Simon's family, which is now coming to light – with far-reaching consequences.
The high school graduate Max Höfel ( Fabian Jaray ) is dissolved in the Fuchs & Kilali detective agency: his girlfriend Leonie ( Lea Fleck ) was run over by a car, the police assume an accident with driver flight. Max, on the other hand, believes in murder and hires the two detectives to find the perpetrator. Leonie worked in the arcade of Max ' Uncle Lukas Bender ( Eric Klotzsch ). As Anne ( Linda Wendel ) and Youssef ( Karim Chérif ) find out, dirty mafia money is washed there. As If a larger amount of money is found in Leonie's estate, Commissioner Eisner ( Robert Dölle ) is also convinced of a violent crime. Did Leonie want to let her employer fly up – so she had to die? Max ' Mother Marina ( Ines Quermann ) stands protectively in front of her brother Lukas. He would never be able to murder! A deep crack runs through the Höfel family, behind whose facade Anne and Youssef have to look to finally solve the case.
