In a small clinic in the Uckermark, the gifted and unusual doctor Amin Ballouz fights for the well-being of his patients and at the same time against his own past. As a young man, he fled his homeland and found a new home in the Uckermark. He has a big heart, always wears a trench coat and drives a Trabi. As a doctor, he practices passionately and does not shy away from unconventional measures. His patients are his family - the hospital is his life. But suddenly he is confronted with the unexpected death of his wife. A short time after the loss, he returned to the clinic. But is he ready for it yet? Those around him try to help him find his way back to life.
After the death of his wife, chief physician Dr. Ballouz returned to his clinic. But soon painful memories catch up with him. Was it too early to return? The heavily pregnant Christina and her six-year-old daughter Flori have an accident on an avenue. Dr. Ballouz provides first aid and returns with Christina and Flori to his old place of work, a small clinic in the Uckermark. Together with neurologist Dr. Barbara Forster fights Dr. Ballouz for Christina's life and that of her unborn baby. Also little Flori, from whom Dr. Ballouz initially thought she was unhurt and needs his help. With her it is the soul that carries wounds. In the outpatient clinic, assistant doctor Dr. Michelle Schwan describes the young father Ricardo, whose arm was broken while playing soccer with his sons. The course of the accident makes Michelle suspicious, and the case soon takes a dramatic turn.
Dr. Ballouz fulfills the last wish of a terminally ill patient and enables him to say goodbye. He is reminded of saying goodbye to his wife Mara. Dr. Ballouz's handling of the terminally ill Mr. Schenk is for assistant doctor Dr. Michelle Schwan an important lesson. And at the same time, Vincent and Michelle get to know each other from a different side through Mr. Schenk. Mr. Schenk has cancer and will not leave the clinic alive. Privately, Dr. Ballouz with the bitter realization that he never had time for his wife; work was always more important. For the late Mr. Schenk's cat, Dr. Ballouz is desperate for a new owner. When Sister Irena does not show up for duty and is shortly afterwards brought in in the ambulance accompanied by her son Alexander, Dr. Michelle Schwan is very worried about her colleague and friend.
Before he can say yes to his bride Vivian, groom Freddy collapses at the altar. He quickly feels better in the clinic - maybe it was just nervousness. But Dr. Ballouz finds out that Freddy's heart is damaged due to a delayed illness; his only chance is immediate surgery. "Till death do you part" – this promise that previously seemed frighteningly long to Freddy may now be frighteningly short. Vivian and Freddy still give it a go before the operation. And hope they see each other again. Senior physician Dr. Mark Schilling diagnoses 80-year-old Wilma with liver carcinoma. But Wilma refuses treatment because she has to care for her sister Luise, who suffers from Alzheimer's. The two have never been separated once in their lives. Wilma only sees one way out. But she underestimated Luise's will to live.
After an explosion in the nearby oil refinery, doctors are fighting for the survival of the many injured. As Dr. When Ballouz asked his patient Manfred about the explosion after his operation, he initially couldn't remember anything. But during the search for his missing friend Axel, Manfred's memories return. Is he to blame for the terrible accident? When firefighter Christian is brought to the clinic with severe burns, neurologist Dr. Barbara Forster the breath. Does she know the seriously injured firefighter? Is he the man she had at least considered getting to know when she recently saw his photo on a dating portal? Barbara and Christian flirt. Who knows, maybe something can come of these two. But both of them have long known that Christian will not survive this night.

In order to get her husband Norbert, who was stubborn with age and, in her opinion, no longer fit to drive, out of the road, Eva Willeke swallowed his car keys. But Norbert has driven a car all his life and has no plans to stop. Now he demands his car keys back and brings Dr. Mark Schilling and Dr. Barbara Forster at the edge of her patience.
