Next Episode of Don't Forget the Driver is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
A dark comedy set in sunny seaside Bognor Regis. It explores what it means to live, work and parent at a point when the entire UK population is having to come to terms with the changing colour of their passports.Coach driver and single dad Peter Green leads a life of ordinary routine; clip on ties, limp packed lunches, vehicle checks, roundtrip coach journeys ferrying church groups to donkey sanctuaries and Japanese tourists to Canterbury Cathedral.Green is at full stretch just about coping with his disaffected daughter Kayla (bored to a state of almost total inertia in a place that has nothing for her) and Audrey, his mum, whose life is rapidly descending into confusion and fear. The discovery of a dead body on the docile Bognor shoreline and an unsettling meeting with a new arrival in town throws Green's life into chaos - a lost soul in need of assistance, who he could help. But will he...Can he?
Waking up to the enormity of his decision, Peter calls his brother Barry for advice. Kayla is unimpressed when she realises that she is expected to help with their new guest. After another home visit from the community health nurse, Peter is told that it's not safe for his mother to live alone. Troubled by this - and the woman staying in his house - Peter goes to work, driving Fran's son Kieran and his friend Pippa to the hydrotherapy pool.
Green and Kayla reluctantly leave Rita at home alone while they go to work. Green takes a group of Japanese tourists to Hampton Court. Rita, desperate to contact her brother, goes into town to explore and to get her phone fixed. But when the strange men return to Green's house, the danger Rita is in becomes apparent and Green is forced to take a detour with his passengers in tow. A surprise arrival at Green's house throws things into further chaos.
Attempting to escape their pursuers, Green brings his whole family along on a daytrip to Babbacombe Model Village in Devon. Joy's ailing mind transports her back in time, while Rita looks after her. The twin brothers discuss what to do about their mum, and Barry berates Green for his decision to take in Rita. Kayla and Brad meet Gulliver, a kids' entertainer who takes Brad's fancy. Squeaky makes a surprise appearance at the Village as Green and Kayla team together to try and save Rita.
Squeaky's absence from work means Green is forced to take on the unpleasant job of a school trip. Brad prepares to conduct his first funeral, while Kayla considers leaving home. Joy is pleased to have some company now that Rita and Barry are living with her. Fran makes an impulsive decision and joins Green on his daytrip. When news about Rita reaches Green and Kayla, they are surprised by their own reactions.
