Sportsman/relic-thief Makasu travels the world defeating religious pantheons in sports and stealing their mystical artifacts. But can he overcome his emotional memories in order to defeat the gods of the Inca in tennis?
Makasu arrives in South America and struggles with memories of his grandfather's mental decline before learning humility from his new mentor, the God of Tennis. Armed with deep understanding of the sport of tennis, our heroes try to avoid the Interpol Spiritual Crime Division's detective Bendy Rivers on their way to challenge the God of Plenty, Ekeko.
On his way to the sea to challenge Mama Cocha, the water goddess, in tennis, Makasu is tricked by Interpol and is forced to deal with unlikely water beasts. Also, he holds hands with the God of Tennis and sings at one point.
In Ukhu Pacha, the Inca underworld, God of Death Supay lulls Makasu into a dream-like trance, forcing him to revisit visions of his time at Sports Academy High School known as the All Supotsu Academy for All Sports. These chilling memories remind our hero that he has been responsible for many deaths in his lifetime, long before he was murdering gods in sports.
The God of Tennis helps Makasu forget his guilt with the power of alcohol before they are ambushed by Kon and Catequil who decimate our hero in surprise doubles tennis. Is there a way around a surprise doubles tennis? We also learn how Makasu came to be with his loyal servant, the Back Pocket Dimension Flying Bear.
Relaxing after a treacherous ultra-merge, Makasu revels in the warm springs of the heavenly Hanan Pacha. However, erotic ladies in the pools keep attempting to lull him into sports complacency- is this Hot Spring Hotel more deadly than one would expect from a Hot Spring Hotel of all things?
Delving deep into the core of Incan cosmos, the aging creator deity Viracocha creaks and crumbles as he lifts his gigantic racket to challenge Makasu. The journey is almost at its end- but at what cost? Can Makasu truly challenge the Sun itself?
