General Hospital (US)

General Hospital is a daytime soap opera that airs in the United States on the ABC television network. The show premiered in April, 1963.

General Hospital is set in the fictional town of Port Charles in upstate New York. It was created by Frank and Doris Hursley. Frank Valentini is the show's executive producer.

The show currently airs Monday to Friday at 2pm. It was the number one watched soap opera on television during the 1980's. It's 10,000th episode was broadcast on April 17, 2002.

General Hospital has won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series a record eleven times.

The show has helped launch the careers of many of today's film and television stars including Demi Moore, Ricky Martin and Emma Samms. Central characters currently on the show include Luke Spencer, Sonny Corinthos, Jason Morgan and Sam McCall.
