God. Family. Football. follows former football player and high school football coach Denny Duron, who has come out of a 30-year retirement to lead the football program he founded at Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, back to national prominence. With the perennial high school football powerhouse—14 State Championships in the last 20 years—coming off their worst season in school history, redemption is everyone's goal. As the team faces struggle and triumph both on and off the field, they are united by Coach Denny's formula for success: "God first, family second, and football third."
Evangel Christian Academy, winner of 14 state titles, was a football dynasty in Louisiana until 2020, when they went 0-9. Famed Head Coach Denny Duron has returned to lead Evangel back to greatness this season and they're ready to compete with the big boys. The first game is against the #3 ranked team in the state, the Neville Tigers. If Evangel wins, it will send a message that they are back.
After a tough loss to Neville in the "mud bowl," the Eagles must shake it off quickly to prepare for a pair of difficult opponents coming up. The twins get a visit from their father, putting extra pressure to perform in a huge game against Westgate. Meanwhile, Jacob Carpenter battles through pain from kidney stones and Coach Duron grapples with what to do about their demolished, grass field.
After a rough loss to Westgate, the Eagles hope to come back strong this Friday against Bossier; however, Peyton is unsure if he'll play after a sack left him shaken up. This puts the pressure on foreign exchange student Ro, the backup quarterback from Cancun, Mexico. Meanwhile, Coach Palmer, must whip the offensive line into shape to make sure they can protect their quarterback.
Sitting at 2-2, the Eagles are looking for a win against Woodlawn to secure a winning record. Then they must face the top two teams in their district. Meanwhile, the pressure of trying to be recruited causes Gabe to break down. With the season at stake, Coach Denny knows he needs to keep the team unified in order for them to keep pushing forward.
Coming off of a two-game losing streak, Evangel must turn things around if they want to keep their dreams of a State Championship alive. Then it's Homecoming Week, and attention turns toward finding dates and finishing the helmet cart. The Eagles expect to play on their new turf field against their neighborhood rivals who disrespected them in last year's Homecoming game.
After running back Garrett Burns sustained a concussion against Huntington, his teammates visit him in the hospital to show their support before the Homecoming Dance. Gabe, a junior, and Tra'Nyce, a senior, discuss the future of their relationship after graduating. An unexpected star steps onto the field as Evangel takes on the Booker T. Washington Lions in the final game of the season.
