An old Yuletide grudge bubbles back to the surface for young dad Sean Finnerty (Donal Logue). Heaven knows, Sean's impossible father, Walt (Richard Riehle), is never easy deal with, even when he is playing sidewalk Santa - especially after he promises Sean's youngest, Henry (Jake Burbage), that St. Nick will bring the boy a prohibitively expensive toy on Christmas Eve.
The argument between the two men reaches its colorful climax when Sean -- in biblical garb as St. Joseph for a living Nativity scene — completely loses his cool and hurls a tomato at Santa Dad in full view of a horrified crowd. Mayhem involving a crew of infuriated elves quickly ensues.
Henry walks in on his parents having sex - in his room.
Lily gets jealous when she suspects her old flame Brad and her friend Kristina are an item, while Sean and Eddie spy on Walt's love life.
When the Finnertys' sewer line breaks and the neighbors won't let them repair it, Sean has no choice but to call Claudia's mob-affiliated Uncle Sal for help.
Jimmy gets an 'F' on his science project after Sean's offer of help turns into a takeover; Lily suspects Eddie might have broken her classmate's leg.
Sean accidentally knocks out the power to the whole block - right before the Super Bowl.
Sean's credit card is mysteriously declined when he tries to take Henry and his friends to the waterpark for his birthday.
Sean steps back into the boxing ring for the first time in five years, claiming he rejoined to raise money for charity, but he's secretly anticipating his bout with Mr. O'Keefe.
Lily and her boyfriend Dean are caught making out while holding a bottle of Scotch - at the school dance.
Sean and Claudia invite his gay co-worker Paul to their house for a dinner party.
Claudia and Sean return from Atlantic City to find the house trashed, their sons locked in the basement and Lily hauling trash bags full of beer bottles out to the curb.
Sean comes to Jimmy's defense when he gets in trouble at school, and is shocked when pious Sister Helen responds by cursing him out.
Sean spends the morning of his anniversary in jail for buying shady diamond earrings for Claudia from Eddie's "connection."
Claudia's parents come to visit and proceed to drive Sean up the wall.
The Finnerty family attends a memorial service for Sean's cousin Scott where Walt discovers Scott's ashes have been replaced with coffee.
Sean finds a pregnancy test and immediately assumes it's Lily's.
