In picturesque rural Nebraska, husband and wife veterinary team Drs. Ben and Erin Schroeder live and work at the center of America's food chain, where the livelihoods of Midwestern farmers connect to families nationwide. Along with their two sons, Charlie and Chase, the Schroeder family is always on the go as their veterinary practice cares for the region's many animals in need. From winter blizzards to spring tornadoes and blistering summer heat waves, Drs. Ben and Erin overcome the obstacles with skill and heart.
Drs. Ben and Erin rush to the rescue when a horse trailer is hit by a car, vaccinate a dozen rescued raptors, and adopt a stray Siamese kitten.
Dr. Ben cares for a not-so-mini horse with hobbled hooves while Dr. Erin operates on a rescued Shar Pei with too much skin around his eyes.
In between saving puppies and cows, doctors Ben and Erin see dreams come true when they introduce a trio of horses to their new riverside home.
Dr. Erin raises money for charity by showing a steer at the Iowa State Fair; Dr. Ben rescues a heifer who has her head stuck in a cattle gate.
The Schroeders untangle a cat's hairy situation, get the runaround from a sick calf, and solve the case of a horse's mysterious weight gain.
The Schroeders visit Dr. Erin's parents in upstate New York. The boys fish with Grandma while Erin goes down memory lane helping her old vet mentors.
A chicken lays an egg while under anesthesia, a puppy has a garbage gut, and the vets come together to save a mare in labor.
It's tummy troubles galore! Dr. Erin finds herself in a messy situation with a goat, and Dr. Ben helps a calf with an umbilical hernia.
The Schroeder's examine state trooper K9s and join a training session. Dr. Ben saves a cat who ate string and Dr. Erin helps a dog after an attack.
Drs. Ben and Erin rush to stabilize two dogs hit by cars. Later, love is in the air when the docs throw a gender reveal party for a pair of lovebirds.
The Docs assist a kitten with a dangly leg, save a St. Bernard puppy in the throes of kidney failure, and outfit a Bichon with some cool new shades.
The docs face a slew of mysterious cases and heart-pumping emergencies, including a Pitbull with a large lump and a bald eagle with a wounded leg.
