For five years, HGTV superstars Ben and Erin Napier of Home Town have been using their heart, creativity, design and building skills to renovate, restore and uplift scores of historic homes and businesses in the small town of Laurel, Mississippi. Now, in the Home Town Takeover, it will take every hand and hammer as HGTV takes Ben and Erin's favorite phrase, "make something good today," into the stratosphere with the whole-town makeover of Wetumpka, Alabama. The series will showcase 12 major renovations all over Wetumpka, including restaurants, shops, historic homes, public spaces, a new farmers' market—and even an entire downtown street—with the goal that the impact will ripple through the community for generations to come.
Ben and Erin begin revitalizing a small town by turning a foster couple's home into a welcoming space for kids. Dave and Jenny Marrs join in to help them tackle a boutique on the brink of closure, and a special guest surprises Wetumpka with a performance.
Ben and Erin step in to give a family and their iconic house a much-needed boost. Then, the Napiers and Hot Mess House's Wendell Holland unearth some original 1920s charm for a local barbershop that is both a community and political hub.
Ben and Erin are ready to serve Wetumpka's sole female police officer and youth advocate with the surprise renovation of her dreams. Then, Texas Two Step's Jon Pierre and Mary assist the Napiers in opening up the local sports bars to stunning river views.
Ben and Erin bring back a piece of history honoring Wetumpka's first female mayor by rejuvenating the event space that shares her name. Then, guests Randy Fenoli makes a bride's big day, and Mina Starsiak Hawk helps renovate the home of two local heroes.
Taking on Wetumpka's main thoroughfare, Ben and Erin get some help from Steve Ford and Tamara Day to give each storefront individual flair. Meanwhile, the Napiers add drama and function to a Craftsman owned by two dynamic women dedicated to theater.
For their final takeover task, Ben and Erin help heal the tornado-damaged part of Wetumpka by breaking ground on a farmers market overlooking the Coosa River. Then, Jasmine Roth and Ty Pennington pitch in to restore a 130-year-old landmark's former glory.
