Martin Romero is an upright and reputable judge whose life changes completely when his son Alex commits a hit-and-run. The victim is a member of a mafia family and Romero is aware that if Alex's guilt becomes known, he will be sentenced one way or another. He will then begin a risky plan to protect him, which will put all his moral and professional convictions to the test in order to save his son.
Romero manipulates evidence that could incriminate Álex in the accident while threatening Lorena to keep her silent. He cannot, however, prevent Vicente Aguilar from discovering something in his house and connecting the dots. Meanwhile, Álex forces a meeting with Alba with whom he ends up getting along, but from whom he hides that his brother Rafa died because of her.
Romero, in his forced alliance with Vicente, tries to help him locate Tato before Verónica finds him. The judge also has a strong argument with Álex, who seeks refuge at Alba's house. The two young people end up kissing, oblivious to the fact that Pilar knows that Álex is Romero's son, whom she believes guilty of running over Hugo.
El Tato assumes Rafa's death under pressure from Vicente. Romero thus fulfills his part of the deal and manages to free Sergio from another sentence, although he tries to cover his back by investigating the Aguilars' businesses. The siege, however, begins to tighten on Romero when Vicente discovers the truth behind the attack on his son and Verónica also begins to suspect the judge after having spent the night with him.
Romero, with the help of Carmen, plans to set a trap for Vicente to stop him and save Álex, who is still hidden and protected by Pilar. The judge, however, does not have another problem that could ruin everything he has done so far to protect his son: Verónica. The inspector is getting closer to discovering the truth about the accident.
