Inside the Operating Theatre focuses on four operating theatres at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Norfolk, providing an in-depth look at the many different procedures and operations carried out, including plastic surgery and cardiology.
In the first episode, Sarah has come to day surgery to have her umbilical hernia repaired. After she gave birth, her belly button never went back in. But before she even gets to the anaesthetic room, general surgeon Mr Redwood realises the problem is bigger than first thought.
Four-year-old Dylan is struggling to hear which means he shouts instead of talks. It's painful and could be a build-up of ear wax. Ear, nose and throat surgeon Mr Beynon- Philips needs to find out what's going on so Dylan's mum can get some peace.
And Geoffrey needs an operation to save his sight. The stakes are high: a similar operation two weeks ago failed, so he's back and pinning all his hopes on what happens.
Ex-Army man Mervyn, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, has a procedure to get rid of constant back pain; and Gemma has major foot surgery to tighten a painful ligament and 7-year-old Nancy has an operation to attempt to straighten a severe squint.
The team tackle a dramatic operation where Frank's heart is stopped and restarted; Zoe has a stent replaced in her ureter which was damaged by her treatment for cervical cancer; and Robert is in the hospital to have his painful haemorrhoids banded.
3-year-old Isaac has an operation on his tongue; operating theatre staff member David has a prostate biopsy carried out by his colleagues; and Lynette has several toes straightened and one part-amputated by the hospital's newest surgeon.
Nigel has keyhole surgery to repair his hernia - but things go wrong when he's back on the ward. Carol has a pin removed from her ankle, which was previously fractured.
A four-year-old girl has her droopy eyelid lifted, a rugby player gets his broken nose reset and a woman has an operation on her wrist after almost a year of agony.
Nick has an ultrasound taken from inside his body to find out if he needs open-heart surgery, and Irene has gel removed from her eye to make her see again.
Teenager Nathan has two twisted teeth extracted, Bob has keyhole surgery for a groin hernia, and 96-year-old Peggy entertains the team while having a growth removed from her toe.
Looks like something went completely wrong!
