His adventure begins on the southernmost island of New Zealand - tiny Stewart Island - where he learns to gravity-fish for the local restaurant trade and gains a deeper understanding of how smarter fishing for a targeted catch of eight tonnes a year makes more money than an 80-tonnes-a-year net haul.
Jimmy learns why Clydesdale horses still rule supreme as farm workers, and heads to Te Waihora, a traditional food basket for Maori people. On the road to Christchurch, Jimmy stops for some crayfish at Nin's Bin, the world's first food truck, and third-generation crayfisherman Johnny Clark takes Jimmy out to see his pots.
