Kelsey's Homemade is Kelsey Nixon's new series that explores her life as a small-town girl living in the city, growing her family and reinventing traditions where food and cooking are always at the center of the celebration.
Your freezer is your friend, let Kelsey Nixon show you the way! Most people don't know how to use their freezer and worry that freezing food means less nutrition, but that is not the case. Kelsey heads to Babeth's Feast in New York City to shop and learn about the versatility of frozen foods. Then, she takes her frozen finds back to the kitchen where she whips up a freezer-friendly feast of Sweet Potato and Black Bean Empanadas and Moroccan Meatballs with Spicy Tomato Sauce. Finally, the meal is topped off by a dessert of Oat Crumb Topping paired with frozen berries.
Entertaining friends and family during the holidays doesn't always mean baking a whole turkey, ham, or cake: bite size savory and sweet treats are quick ways to get the taste of the holidays to your guests in no time. Kelsey gets all of her favorite flavors of a turkey meal into one bite with Potato Latkes topped with Smoked Turkey Leg and Sweet Kumquat Chutney. Her favorite stuffing recipe packs big flavor into little Crispy Prosciutto cups. For dessert, a twist on a classic: Gingerbread Cake Truffles mixed with lemon ginger icing and topped with melted white chocolate and toasted pistachios. Kelsey is making entertaining for the holidays that much easier with some amazing bite size morsels.
In desperate need of a night in with the girls? Kelsey Nixon has got you covered! From table flowers to party favors to kitchen shortcuts, entertaining your girlfriends has never been this fun and easy. Just pick a theme and go! First, Kelsey heads out to buy some handy kitchen gadget gifts for her guests. Then, back at home, she treats her friends to an Indian-themed feast of Roasted Cauliflower with Spiced Yogurt Sauce, Cucumber Raita Salad, Cilantro Chutney, Garam Masala-Glazed Carrots and Mango Lassis.
Wish you could make your favorite snack at home? Kelsey shows us with a little inspiration and essential ingredients, anything is possible! After visiting S'mores Bakery and seeing how they turned an American favorite snack -- the s'mores -- upside down by adding unexpected flavors like orange-cardamom, espresso and lavender, she heads back to her kitchen to make her version of one of her all time favorite snacks -- a microwave chocolate cake with peanut butter cream. Kelsey then heads to Kings County Jerky to see how they reinvented the traditional jerky by making a grass fed jerky with flavors like Korean BBQ and Mole. Kelsey makes her version of dried leather by serving up homemade fruit leather. And last, Kelsey makes a "snack attack" of fried chickpeas with parmesan, lemon and almonds.
