Next Episode of Koutetsujou no Kabaneri is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
As the world is in the middle of an industrial revolution, a monster appears that cannot be defeated unless its heart, which is protected by a layer of iron, is pierced. By infecting humans with its bite, the monster can create aggressive and undead creatures known as Kabane. On the island Hinomoto, located in the far east, people have built stations to shelter themselves from these creatures. People access the station, as well as transport wares between them, with the help of a locomotive running on steam, called Hayajiro. Ikoma, a boy who lives in the Aragane station and helps to build Hayajiro, creates his own weapon called Tsuranukizutsu in order to defeat the creatures. One day, as he waits for an opportunity to use his weapon, he meets a girl named Mumei, who is excused from the mandatory Kabane inspection. During the night, Ikuma meets Mumei again as he sees Hayajiro going out of control. The staff on the locomotive has turned into the creatures. The station, now under attack by Kabane, is the opportunity Ikoma has been looking for.
As the Kabane attack Aragane station, Ikoma flees to his home, lures a Kabane into the house and successfully kills it with his bolt gun, but doesnt get away wholly.
Ikoma somehow survives and heads towards the last Hayajiro left in Kenkin Station, the Kotetsujyo. Meanwhile, Ayame and her people were left behind to fend off the Kabane when a young girl named Mumei appears before them. The girl clears open a path to the Kotetsujyo with incredible combat prowess.
Having escaped Kenkin Station, the Kotetsujyo heads for Kongokaku, the Shogunate's fortress. However, the people on the Kotetsujyo quickly turn against Ikoma and Mumei and attempt to drive them off the train. Having been thrown into her leadership position, Ayame lacks the power to subdue them...
After the killing of the pregnant kabane by Mumei, the people of the Kotetsujyo are more than ever mistrustful of the kabaneri. A new kind of enemy provides an opportunity for kabeneri and "kabaneri-friends".
As the Kotetsujyo nears Yashiro station it becomes obvious it has suffered a major attack recently. Mumei meets with an old aquaintance which puts her in an odd mood. The growing food shortage forces the group to take risks in in order to advance.
The crew of the Kotetsujyo explores options to leave Yashiro station, whilst Mumei and Ikoma need to find a way out of their own predicament. Both need to worry about the Black Smoke.
The Kotetsujyo reaches Shitori station. Luckily it's still unharmed, this means the crew can stock up on supplies and spend some well earned leisure time.
When Shitori station is attacked the Hayajiro Kokujou arrives with the hunter squad. It is an elite team that hunts Kabane and is led by lord Amatori Biba.
Iwato station, the last stop before Kongokaku, refuses the Hunters' Kokujo to enter. But lord Biba is allowed a meeting, during which Biba shows his true colors and with some "help" from Horobi makes a move. Mumei is distraught when she finds out whats been going on.
The iron fortress rumbles on to Kongokaku while Ayame agrees with Biba for lack of better options. Mumei learns more about her brothers intentions and Ikoma schemes.
Biba, Mumei and Ayame arrive at Kongokaku in the Kotetsujyo. Ikoma feels down, but soon learns something that gives hope.
Ikoma tries to rescue Mumei and Ayame tries to rescue her people, but lord Biba has other plans.
