Melilla. Tangiers. Toulouse. In the dark of night, officers from the Spanish, Moroccan and French police forces carry out a synchronized anti-jihadist strike but retaliation looms.Madrid. An ordinary apartment house. This used to be the home of Carla, Marcos and their 8 year-old daughter Lua. Now Marcos has moved out. Carla is the head of the counter-terrorist squad, Marcos her first officer. Used to following Carla's orders on the job, Marcos can't grasp why he and Carla are history. Despite the secret she's keeping from Marcos, Carla just needs to get things done. Like detecting the terrorists' hidden agenda before more lives are sacrificed. Or organizing Lua's Communion. Or making tough choices a strong leader must--like removing rookie agent, Miriam, from Marcos' command to lead her own vital mission.
During a routine operation, Spanish police arrests the world's most wanted terrorist. This puts Spain in the crosshairs of jihadists. La Unidad, the unit which specialized in preventing and deactivating attacks, will have to work against the clock to avoid an attack.
Lack of resources and pressure to catch terrorists increases tensions within La Unidad, whose members also have to deal with the personal problems caused by their exhaustive dedication to police work.
The disappearance of an undercover agent, infiltrated into the terrorist cell, triggers all alarms. La Unidad investigates the surroundings of the detained terrorist leader to detect the connections and next steps of the terrorist cell that threatens Spain.
The events are rushing on both sides of the border. The terrorists receive support, La Unidad suffers some setbacks that compromise its police work but strengthen the ties within the team.
La Unidad cannot get ahead of the plans of the terrorists, who are getting closer to achieving their goal, something that affects and stresses the team led by Carla even more.
Recent events have pushed the members of La Unidad to the limit, forcing them to move quickly and make tough decisions in order to get back on their feet and regain control of the situation.
