After hearing his friends brag about how long they've been shaving, Wally decides that it's time for him to start shaving as well. However, when Ward finds out what Wally's up to, he tries to convince his son to wait until he really has to.
Wally wants to buy a new suit without the help from his father after Eddie suggests he's old enough to do the job on his own. After arriving home with a suit that doesn't suit his style, Wally doesn't agree with his parents that he should go back to the store for something more suitable. They soon devise a plan to get Wally to see things their way.
The boys plans to go to a carnival in a neighboring town get dashed when Aunt Martha calls for a surprise visit.
When a new girl at school makes fun of Wally's appearance, he becomes self-conscious and turns to a mail-order advertisement to help change his shape of his nose.
After going to the dentist with a toothache, Beaver get scared to have his cavity filled after Lumpy scares him with tall tales how the dentist will fill it.
When Wally decides to style his hair in the latest fad, Ward and June try to find a way to convince him to change it back.
