In each half-hour episode, Legends of the Fork hits the road with Buddy Valastro like never before as he visits iconic restaurants across the country to speak with their chefs, taste their cuisine, and discover the secrets to their success.From Los Angeles to Nashville to local New Jersey favorites, Buddy is out to see, hear, and taste the stories, histories, legacies, and flavors of America's iconic restaurants. Buddy explores how these historic eateries offer diners an astonishing panorama of the country's social, cultural, and demographic history, as well as its culinary traditions.
Buddy heads to Chicago, Illinois to one of the oldest buildings in the city, the Berghoff, a German-style restaurant famous for their beer and schnitzel. Then, he's off to Husk in Nashville, Tennessee, where this award-winning spot is putting a unique spin on farm fresh Southern Classics inside an over 140-year-old historic building.
Seafood may not be your first thought when you think of a city like Detroit, Michigan, but at the Belgian inspired restaurant Cadieux Cafe, Buddy tries the best bowl of steamed mussels and braised Belgian rabbit in the Midwest. Then his next stop is at Taverna Kyclades in Queens, New York, the wildly popular Greek establishment with the best branzino and spanakopita this side of the Aegean Sea.
Buddy visits two restaurants known for serving up old world comfort food classics: Veselka in New York City and Canter's in Los Angeles. First, Buddy learns Veselka's time honored technique of making pierogies, which people have been enjoying since 1954. Then, Buddy heads to Canter's Deli in Los Angeles, a family run hot spot that's been around for three generations where Buddy learns to make their iconic, fully loaded matzo ball soup, known as the "Mish Mosh" soup.
Buddy checks out two legendary restaurants that originated as people's actual homes. First, he's going to the famous Loveless Cafe, located between Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee to taste their southern staples like crispy fried chicken, buttery biscuits, and tender pork chops. Then he heads to The Whitney, in Detroit, Michigan to check out a former mansion turned restaurant known for its signature cocktails and upscale American cuisine.
