In Life Below Zero: Next Generation, the all-new cast members have tried contemporary life and rejected it in favor of a life of freedom in the brutal Alaskan wilderness. They speak to the growing dissatisfaction the current generation has with technologies, which is ubiquitous in modern life. The crew will capture the cast members as they rush to prepare for and survive the frozen months of winter to the spring thaw.
The Alaskans must be brave as they navigate new lands, new lives and the deadly cold of winter to ensure survival. Johnny Rolfe, in need of protein, follows animal tracks and has caribou in his sights. Chris and Jessi Morse break trail in hopes of a lifeline to civilization. With the small game population decimated, The Rowlands must seek new land to provide for their family while Alex Javor finds himself isolated and alone on foreign land.
Arctic temperatures dip far below zero as Chris and Jessi Morse desperately try to find a way to thaw their ailing snow machine. Johnny Rolfe battles the frigid cold in order to secure water. The Rowland family tries ice fishing in hopes of a winter fish harvest, and Alex Javor struggles to build a more permanent shelter before the inhospitable conditions of Deadman Lake claim it's next victim.
Forced to reckon with his initial missteps, Alex Javor searches Deadman Lake for resources in anticipation of a deadly cold snap. The Rowlands venture into the wilderness to replace a woodlot rendered unreachable by flooding rivers. Chris and Jessi Morse expand their hunting grounds by constructing a new zipline. Bound to his cabin by record-breaking cold, Johnny Rolfe fashions a pair of hunting skies in order to hunt life-sustaining caribou.
Mother Nature's game is not for the weak or unprepared and the next generation of Alaskans must rise to the occasion. The Rowlands track suspicious animal sign that threatens the safety of the family. At Deadman Lake, Alex Javor must adapt to his new surroundings in order to survive the brutal elements while Chris Morse heads out on his own to better their life on the Cosna leaving Jessi to fend for herself.
