The enormous cave system, known as the Abyss, is the only unexplored place in the world. Nobody knows how deep down goes this titanic pit, inhabited by strange and wondrous creatures and full of mysterious ancient relics which purpose in unknown to modern man. Generations of bold adventurers have been drawn by the cryptic depths of the Abyss. In course of time those bold enough to explore the dangerous pit came to be known as "Cave Raiders".
In Oosu, the town at the edge of the Abyss, there lives a little orphan named Rico, who dreams of becoming as great a cave raider as her mother was and solving the great mystery of the pit. One day exploring the murky depths she stumbles upon a little boy, who turns out to be a robot...
Riko, Reg and Nanachi take their first steps into the sixth layer; both wonders and dangers await the trio, but they are unaware they are being watched.
Riko, without possibly knowing the consequences of her words, sealed the villager's fate as soon as she acknowledged Meinya was priceless; the Balancing begins.
Reg cannot remember Faputa anymore; Nanachi is stunned by unexpected news.
The children begin uncovering the village's secrets while searching for each other; Reg is attacked by a snail dragon while on the sixth floor alone.
Riko is told she must sell one of her body parts to get her friend, Nanachi back from Belaf: Pruska's power is discovered.
The truth about the expedition is more tragic and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.
They had their reasons for descending into that infernal pit, finding damnation and salvation in equal measure.
Faputa can help Reg save Nanachi, but everything has a price: in exchange, Reg must help her enter the village.
The village's membrane is breached and chaos floods in through the gaps; as attackers enter from without, aid comes from within.
Everything comes full circle.
