In Portland, Ore., Kirby joins Hoop.Camp, a volunteer-run basketball camp for people with special needs; Kirby learns how difficult it can be to find opportunities for those with special needs to participate in organized sports after high school.

In Minneapolis, Kirby plunges into the deep end of boat-building, joining a team of apprentices at Urban Boatbuilders as they work to finish canoes in time for their graduation -- a boat launch attended by their whole community.

After the academy leadership is sure he is up to the task, Kirby is allowed to join the moving company, a residential moving service comprised of students from the academy; at breakneck speeds, Kirby and the movers help an elderly woman move.

Kirby joins Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization dedicated to building and delivering beds to families in need; after meeting children who have been sleeping on the ground, Kirby rolls up his sleeves and learns how to build beds for them.

Kirby joins Little Wanderers, an organization of dedicated animal lovers who help feral cats across New York CIty; venturing into abandoned buildings and vacant lots, Kirby and the team find cats in need and help them on their way to a better life.

Kirby heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to team up with the Gaining Ground Book Bus, a school bus converted into a free book delivery service. Kirby and a team of educators tour the city and deliver 3,000 books.

Kirby heads to Memphis Rox, a climbing and community center in Memphis. As he learns rock climbing, Kirby witnesses how the center is building up the Soulsville community, both on and off the climbing wall.

Kirby joins The Welcome to America Project, an organization dedicated to helping refugees thrive. As Kirby tracks down and delivers basic household items needed by the newly arrived families, he experiences what it really means to be a good neighbor.

Kirby travels to Temecula, California, to work with Warfighter Made, a nonprofit dedicated to putting wounded veterans behind the wheels of off-road vehicles to provide "adrenaline therapy".

Kirby joins The Roots of Music, a nonprofit empowering youth through music education, academic support, and mentorship. Kirby earns a spot in the Marching Crusaders, the organization's youth marching band, and prepares for his first big parade.
