Beyond the necessary amount of skill required to complete the challenges, these competitors will need to prove their knowledge of the craft and demonstrate profound creativity as they convert raw local ingredients into authentic, handcrafted spirits that will impress the most seasoned of distilling experts. The champion of each episode will receive a limited release of their winning recipe through Sugarlands Distilling Co.
Legal and outlaw distillers compete to make a 300-year-old spirit called Cherry Bounce, a favorite drink of George Washington, nearly lost to time. Josh Owens, whose family kept the recipe alive for generations in the backwoods, joins as guest judge.
Mark, Digger and Tim judge as three amateur distillers compete to make the world's most notorious spirit - absinthe. Building stills of their own design and mashing in from raw ingredients, only one will earn the title of Master Distiller.
