Mathis Family Matters follows Judge Mathis and his wife, Linda as two of their adult children move back to Los Angeles to all find their way and join the rest of the family. Judge Mathis has had great success helping others, but when it comes to his family, his opinions and being an "expert on everything" sometimes falls flat as he helps to guide his children through adulthood. Linda, the matriarch of the family, has a fabulous quick wit personality and since this is the first time the family has been under one roof in long time, it's her mission to keep everyone together through the ups and downs. The firstborn, Jade is living life to the fullest on both coasts, as she decides if her dreams of being a full-time motivational speaker outweigh her career in law. Camara can do no wrong in the eyes of the Judge, and with the nickname "Mother Mathis" she has started a family of her own along with her husband, Ryan and daughters Nora and Zara. Camara is trying to manage it all as she works on balancing family life and her law career. Greg Jr. and his long-term boyfriend, Elliott are busy working on multiple real estate ventures, and as they take their relationship to the next level they struggle with sharing their true bond with the world. The youngest, Amir is building his own production empire, and after a recent divorce he jumps right back into another serious relationship causing his siblings to intercede with a love intervention. The Mathis crew is ready to shake things up with fun, big laughs and family love at the core.
For the first time since relocating his family from Detroit 15 years ago, Judge Greg Mathis and his wife Linda have all their adult children living in the same city. Siblings Jade, Greg Jr., Camara and Amir head out for a night on the town while Greg and Linda take on babysitting responsibilities for their precocious grandkids. While Greg will do anything to keep everyone in L.A., he quickly realizes that adult children have adult problems.
Love is in the air as Linda attempts to reignite the spark in her 36-year marriage to Greg. The siblings confront Amir about moving too fast with his new girlfriend, especially since he's still legally married.
The East Coast kids tire of their living situations and start looking for a house together. Amir and Judge travel to Chicago for the 23rd season wrap up of "Judge Mathis." Amir sets a plan in motion to get Judge on board with his latest flame.
Greg, Jade and Elliott move into their new house and decide to host a housewarming party. Against his siblings' wishes, Amir has Judge and Linda meet his girlfriend, Sally, and brings her to the housewarming party.
Camara plans a camping adventure with the whole family, and alter-ego Mama Boss comes out in full force; Greg gets angry when Elliott is mandated to cook while the rest of the family plays games.
Greg Jr. prepares to follow in the judge's footsteps to become an advocate for the LGBTQ community, but first must come out to the public with or without his boyfriend, Elliott, by his side. Amir struggles to convince the judge to do a podcast with him.
To protect his father's reputation, Greg Jr. takes over the Judge's social media accounts to prevent him from responding to Internet trolls, but the Judge isn't having it.? After Amir and his girlfriend Sally call it quits, he decides to visit a shaman to get help with his relationship choices.
Jade's push and pull between DC and LA gets even more intense when a romantic flame from back East visits and meets the family. The Judge learns he is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Linda uses this as an opportunity for him to make changes to his dietary habits.
Linda and Camara host their annual She Social event where Linda must conquer her fear of public speaking. Amir feels the pressure to impress his dad when they record a podcast together.
In celebration of the Judge's historic career, he is awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the entire Mathis family gathers for a glitzy, star-studded party in his honor. Elliott and Greg Jr. share some exciting news!
