Night Court centers on the unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father's footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding.
Harry's old magician's assistant appears in the courthouse and puts Dan and Abby in a tough position. Gurgs, Flobert and Julianne are determined to fire up Wyatt's lukewarm life.
At the behest of producer Sy Hoffman, Dan and Abby work together to turn Dan's memoir into a musical; Wyatt tries to help Julianne stay cool when her ex-lover turns up at the courthouse.
Dan goes up against Julianne to defend the Wheelers, and his professional reputation. Abby's love life takes an exciting turn when she meets a handsome man in the courthouse, but there's a catch.
Abby's friendship with her ex-boyfriend's mother leads to romantic complications; when Julianne's wealthy aunt passes away, the gang vies for a piece of her inheritance.
