Vidhita Rajawat, a progressive, bubbly girl, crosses paths with the affluent and wise, Rajyashree Rathod at the Khejrala village Janmashtami fair. Later, Vidhita takes part in the ‘Perfect Pati competition', which Rajyashree judges. While Pushkar, Rajyashree's overprotective son, burns his sister's inappropriate clothes and berates a female acquaintance, Vidhita wins the contest and enamours Rajyashree. Later, Rajyashree calls the village priest, and says she wishes for Pushkar to marry Vidhita.
The priest calls and informs Asha about Rajyashree wanting Vidhita to marry Pushkar. However, Asha lies, saying the proposal is for Bela. Vidhita's brother-in-law, Ashwin, questions this, and he and Asha argue about his mistake with Vidhita's marriage. Further, Asha is furious when Ashwin and Vidhita suggest Asha and Bela meet Pushkar. The Rathods encounter Urvashi as they go out for dinner. At the restaurant, Pushkar blows chili powder into the eyes of a waiter who is extra friendly with Meera.
At the restaurant, Pushkar asks for the waiter and threatens him with dire consequences. Asha asks Vidhita to not be present when the prospective groom and his family come to see Bela. After helping Bela get ready, Vidhita leaves by making an excuse. Rangeela tries to molest Vidhita, but Pushkar hears her cry and arrives at the spot. He recognises Vidhita and beats Rangeela. When Pushkar offers to drop her home, she declines, surprising him.
Rajyashree and Meera reach Bela's house. When Bela enters the room, Rajyashree and Meera are shocked to see her instead of Vidhita. However, they choose not to express their disapproval so as not to hurt Bela. Elsewhere, Pushkar offers to drop Vidhita home and reveals that he is Rajyashree's son. While Rajyashree and Meera prepare to take leave, Pushkar enters the house with Vidhita in his arms. Rajyashree reveals that she had brought the proposal for Vidhita and not Bela.
Rajyashree asks Vidhita to take her time to decide if she wants to accept the proposal. Asha vents out her fury and puts the blame on Vidhita, but Ashwin tries to explain Vidhita's innocence. On the way back home, Pushkar's car's tyre is punctured by Rangeela. Further, Rangeela claims Vidhita to be his girlfriend. Asha convinces Vidhita to decline Rajyashree's proposal, to let Bela get married first. At night, Rangeela is hurt by the nails that have been planted in his house by Pushkar.
Nivedita and Ashwin ask Vidhita if there is some other reason for her to decline Pushkar's proposal, but Asha interferes and gives a false justification. Later, Vidhita blames Asha for linking her with Rangeela, but she sheds crocodile tears. To stop Ashwin from asking further questions, Asha suggests Vidhita marry Rangeela. Elsewhere, Rajyashree accidentally steps on a push-pin. A furious Pushkar reprimands all the servants of the house.
Ashwin accepts Rajyashree's proposal. Asha tells Rangeela that Vidhita is willing to marry him. Rangeela arrives at Vidhita's doorstep with the 'baarat', but Vidhita slaps him and he is later thrown out. Vidhita feels guilty about the argument between Asha and Ashwin. Pushkar tells his mother he needs more time to reconsider the proposal. Vidhita plans for a candlelight dinner to brighten everyone's mood. Meanwhile, Pushkar, disguised as a villager, decides to find out everything about Vidhita.
Rajyashree decides to do the 'Shagun' despite Pushkar's absence. Meanwhile, Pushkar, disguised as a villager, is looking for information regarding Vedhita. He overhears Rangeela and his friends lament about Vedhita. When Pushkar calls Vedhita for a meeting, she mistakes him for one of Rangeela's friends and reprimands him. Later, Pushkar gets hold of Vedhita's phone and checks for any other man in her life. However, His suspicions are put to rest.
The Rathores arrive at Vidhita's house to give 'shagun'. When Vidhita proceeds to serve Pushkar tea, Asha trips her up, which makes the tea spill on Pushkar's hand. Asha secretly tells Pushkar to reject the proposal since Vidhita is not expressing her displeasure with the marriage only so as to not upset Ashwin. When Rajyashree prepares to start the ceremony, Pushkar stops her stating that he wants to talk to Vidhita first. Pushkar assures Vidhita that she can tell him everything about herself.
Before agreeing to the marriage, Pushkar demands to talk to Vedhita alone. On return, they announce that they have agreed for the marriage. Pushkar realises Asha is annoyed, and she intentionally tripped Vedhita, due to which his hand gets burnt with hot tea. Vedhita receives an anonymous text, telling her Pushkar is not who he seems to be, she will regret if she marries him. Pushkar leaves a heating rod in the bucket which burns Asha's hand. However, Vedhita is blamed for it.
Vidhita confides in Suman regarding the anonymous calls and text messages. Rangeela challenges Vidhita to tell Pushkar how she was stranded during the wedding ceremony. Rajyashree invites Ashwin along with his entire family to her house. Vidhita receives photographs of Pushkar beating a man. A worried Vidhita confides in her sister. They realise this is not Rangeela's doings and that someone else is trying to cause a rift between Vidhita and Pushkar.
Rajyashree welcomes Randhir and Charu who arrive at the Rathore house. They express their resentment for not being informed about Pushkar's marriage proceedings. When Urvashi tries to get intimate with Pushkar, he dismisses her advances and tells her that she can never get him. Vidhita arrives at the Rathore house with her family. When Bela sees the lavish bungalow, she tells Asha that she would do anything that Asha instructs to replace Vidhita as Pushkar's wife.
Asha enquires about Rajyashree's husband, but Pushkar explains that their father doesn't live with them. When Vidhita shows Pushkar the pictures, he justifies that he beat the man only because he was misbehaving with Meera. He further tells her that he will reject their marriage proposal, but Vidhita stops him and apologises. Later, Pushkar and Vidhita agree to the date proposed by the priest. On Asha's insistence, Bela tries to incite Pushkar against Vidhita by mentioning about a past incident.

When Vidhita confronts Pushkar for being late, he lies that he had gone to the temple. He says that Vidhita should have trust and faith in him, and openly admits to loving her. Pushkar confides in Badri about purposely getting late for the wedding in order to torment Vidhita, so he could be a hero on his return. Badri doesn't approve of Pushkar's actions, but remains mute. Dressed as a bride, Bela is told to wait in Vidhita's room, veiled. Later, Rangeela's friends come to abduct Vidhita.
Rangeela informs a joyful Asha that Vidhita is with him, and they are getting married as planned. While Pushkar wants to make all the decisions for Vidhita, she thinks about making them together. Rangeela carries his doped wife during the ‘Phere', marriage ritual. Pushkar cuts his thumb to apply Sindoor on Vidhita's forehead with his blood. While Asha is shocked to see Vidhita next to Pushkar, Rangeela is startled on realising that he has married Bela.
On not finding Bela in the house, Asha connects the dots and realises she has been abducted by Rangeela's friends. Rajyashree assures Ashwin she will care for Vidhita as her own daughter. An angry Rangeela brings Bela back and tells Ashwin of Asha's scheming ways. Pushkar tries to cheer up Vidhita but gets angry when he fails. Further, he threatens to take her back home, and Vidhita is shocked to see this side of him. Meanwhile, Ashwin insults Rangeela and throws him out of his house.
On hearing Pushkar's decision of leaving her back home, Vidhita snaps out of her stupor, and Pushkar succeeds in getting her attention back to him. Rangeela laments his friends' mistakes are costing him his reputation. The Rathod family celebrates the bride welcoming ceremony. During the second ritual, Pushkar hurts Vidhita by accident. Wanting to keep Vidhita away from old memories and relations, Pushkar gets her old luggage put away in the storeroom. He thinks of changing her life.

She further reveals that she used to know Vivek before the marriage, since they were classmates. Pushkar asks Vidhita to dance for him. He deliberately hurts her, making it look like an accident. When he goes out to get medicine, he sees Vidhita hugging a stranger. A furious Pushkar beats him up, only to realise that the girl was not Vidhita.
Upset by Vidhita's revelation, Pushkar leaves her alone on their wedding night by making up an excuse and spends the night in the storeroom. Charu comes to Vidhita's room the next morning and mocks her. She informs Randhir that Pushkar didn't spend the night with Vidhita. After reading a letter in Vidhita's laptop, Pushkar breaks it down in his fury. Rajyashri sees him in the storeroom, but he fibs his way out of it. Later, Pushkar gifts Vidhita a new laptop while getting the old one repaired.
Rajyashree informs Ashwin that she will send Vidhita for the ‘Pugh Fera' ceremony once she completes the ‘Mooh Dikhai' ceremony. Wanting to change Vidhita's style, Pushkar starts to teach her the art of using cosmetics by giving her a makeover. Charu mocks Vidhita even after passing her first test as a Rathod daughter-in-law, and tells her that she has a lot to learn to keep up with the family's prestige. Later, Vidhita and Pushkar are shocked when Rangeela discloses that Asha's plans backfired.
On hearing Rangeela is accountable for the mix up of the brides, Pushkar controls his cold rage and reprimands Asha. Rangeela flees, and Pushkar catches up. Unaware that Pushkar has decided to make Asha pay for her deeds, a worried Vidhita wants to get Bela out of this mess. An impressed and drunk Rangeela willing agrees to do Pushkar's bidding. Vidhita convinces Ashwin to forgive Bela and support her, to which he agrees. On return to the Rathore palace, Vidhita performs 'Rasoi ki Rasam' ritual. Meanwhile, Rangeela lands up at Ashwin's house with a placard asking them to return his wife Bela, thus creating a scene to damage their reputation.
In order to prove that Vidhita is jinxed, Charu sabotages the 'Rasoi Rasam' ritual by using up the consumer gas. Vidhita uses stove and completes the ritual, impressing everyone. She wins Badri over by thanking and appreciating his effort to help her. Bela gets impressed with Rangeel's effort to fight for her and brings him food when he goes on a hunger strike. A suspicious Vin wants to know if Vidhita is a virgin, so he brings in Kasturi to spy on Vidhita.

When the Doctor is about to tell Pushkar of Vidhita's internal examination report, they are interrupted. Pushkar's question regarding Vidhita's chastity remains unanswered. In order to please his family and Vidhita, Pushkar too decides to keep a fast on "Karva Chauth'. Rangeela tries to impress Bela by telling her that he is fasting for her. Further, they spend some romantic moments together. An impatient Pushkar gets angry with the Doctor for ignoring his calls and sends her threatening texts.
When Meera snatches Pushkar's phone, he snaps at Meera, startling her and the family. The Rathod family celebrates 'Karwa Chauth', a fasting ritual. Vidhita comes to meet Pushkar in the study room and intercepts lady doctor's text, informing Vidhita is a virgin. An upset Vidhita realises Pushkar did not trust her, and hence, did not consummate their marriage. Pushkar is excited on reading the text, but he is confronted by Vidhita regarding the distrust in the foundation of their wedding.
Pushkar panics completely when an upset Vidhita walks away from him after the chastity issue. While everyone is celebrating 'Karwa Chauth', Rajyashree prays for the long life of her estranged husband. Pushkar is frantically looking for Vidhita. He even goes to Ashwin's house. Eventually he finds her at the temple praying for strength to deal with her situations and marriage. Rangeela makes Bela's dream come true by celebrating the festival in a filmy style.
