Another American phenomenon airs in the Philippines this time it is “Philippines’ Next Top Model”. The original version of “Next Top Model” was created by actress, diva and supermodel herself Tyra Banks titled “America’s Next top Model”. At last count the series has sprung up in over 30 countries so far with many various titles but all are basically the same concept. “Philippines’ Next Top Model” debuted on 13 March 2007 and aired every Tuesday night at 8:30 PM on the ETC network in the Philippines. The host for season 1 also called cycle 1 was Philippines actress, diva and supermodel Ruffa Gutierrez-Bektas. They had a total of 5 judges on their version, who were Pauline Sauco-Juan, Robby Carmona, Vince Uy, Wilma Doesn’t and Xander Angeles. On 12 June 2007 they announced their very first winner as Grendal Alvarado a 22 year-old college student who was born in Bacolod City, Philippines. She won a professional modeling contract and 150,000 Philippines pesos. Season or Cycle 2 is scheduled to debut in early 2008 with new host Joey Mead.
