Pinoy Pop Superstar

This weekly TV series “Pinoy Pop Superstar” hosted by “Regine Velasquez” could be called a weekly talent search for the greatest non-signed singers in Asia. The show is a combination of “American Idol” hosted by “Ryan Seacrest” on the FOX network and the old “Star Search” series last hosted by “Arsenio Hall” that was last seen on the CBS network in 2004. It is a 40 weeklong search for the best singer in Asia that is produced and airs from the Beautiful country of the Philippines with a panel of 3 judges and 3 contestants. Each week the judges decide the winner of the show and they move on to challenge the winner of the next week’s show. If a winner is able to defend their weekly title for 4 consecutive weeks automatically moves on to the grand finals of the show. |

The winner of the very first season was the very Beautiful local teenage sensation "Jonalyn Viray". She was crowned the champion in May 2005 at the Araneta Coliseum. It is the largest indoor facility in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 16,500 people. Jonalyn won prizes that included a new House, a new Toyota, a recording contract with “GMA Records” and 1,000,000 pesos from the shows sponsor “Coca-Cola”.
