“Princess Sarah” was a dramatic musical fantasy that aired weeknights at 7:30PM on ABS-CBS in the Philippines. It was in the format of a Soap opera, which is called a “Teleserye” in the Philippines. It was a remake of a previously aired animated series shown in Japan from 6 January 1985 to 29 December 1985. The non-animated version aired in the Philippines from 12 November 2007 but only aired for 30 episodes before it was cancelled on 21 December 2007. The series itself is based on the Novel titled “A Little Princess” written by “Frances Hodgson Burnett” who was an English-American playwright and author. She was born “Frances Eliza Hodgson” in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, England in the UK and lived from 24 November 1849 to 29 October 1924.
The series revolves around little Sarah Crewe played by child actress "Sharlene San Pedro". Sarah is attending a very high-class, sophisticated boarding school for girls who are from rich families. Although her mother had died years earlier her Father Captain Cristopher Crewe played by "Albert Martinez" was taking very good care of Sarah. Her father has to leave to go on an expedition but during his travels he is lost and presumed dead. Sarah now all alone must then take care of herself and she takes on a job at the school as a maid. But with her pureness and kind heart Sarah manages to take care of herself but also emerges as the princess of diamonds as well as the princess of hearts, as well.
